Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for new and stronger solutions to lax gun laws and loopholes, has recognized Mary Ann Stewart for State Representative for standing up for gun violence prevention and gun safety as a Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate.
“As the largest gun violence prevention organization in the country,” Brynne Craig of Moms Demand Action wrote, “Everytown for Gun Safety’s tens of thousands of volunteers, hundreds of thousands of donors, and millions of supporters are dedicated to common sense reforms that protect the 2nd Amendment and also make our communities safer.”
Since its inception after the tragedy at Sandy Hook School, Moms Demand Action has established a chapter in every state of the country and, along with Mayors Against Illegal Guns and the Everytown Survivor Network, is part of Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in the country with more than four million supporters. The official Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate logo demonstrates to voters and volunteers that Mary Ann Stewart stands for common sense gun safety.
Mary Ann said she is honored to have received this recognition from Moms Demand Action.
“Reducing and preventing gun violence is a public safety issue, not a political one. Over 35,000 Americans are killed every year by gun violence and thousands more are injured. Doing more to keep guns out of the hands of felons, domestic abusers, and people with dangerous histories, knowing that respecting rights and protecting people go hand-in-hand. Common-sense public safety measures make our communities safer and save lives.”
