Showcases Defining Differences Between Candidates
Mary Ann Stewart, progressive Democratic candidate for State Representative in the 15th Middlesex district, received the endorsement of the Woburn Welcomes. Woburn Welcomes joins the Progressive Democrats of Massachusetts and Mass Alliance, a coalition of over twenty unions, LGBTQ rights, pro-choice, health care, and environmental organizations.
In a statement, Woburn Welcomes said:
“Mary Ann Stewart knows that the best policy is crafted both inside and outside the halls of power, when legislators, activists, and people come together to face common needs, and is uniquely capable of uniting those groups around bold, progressive ideas. She has lived many of the issues that most deeply affect her constituents, from the struggle to find affordable housing to the uncertainty of health coverage to the pain of the opioid crisis. That perspective, coupled with a lifelong history of activism and advocacy on education, economic justice, immigration, and the environment, make her uniquely capable of bringing policy to the people. We are proud to endorse her to continue Jay Kaufman’s legacy as a progressive voice for change in this district.”
Woburn Welcomes describes themselves on their Facebook page as a progressivegroup of Woburn residents committed to making sure Woburn is a community that welcomes and protects all of its residents.
The consistent support of Progressive groups is defining between the candidates, including for Michelle Ciccolo. Ciccolo has earned the support of business officials and is President and CEO of a business and development consulting company.
The Democratic Primary election will be held on Tuesday, September 4th, 2018. The 15th Middlesex district consists of all of Lexington and Woburn, wards one and seven. For more information on Mary Ann Stewart’s campaign, voters can visit www.MaryAnnStewart.org.
