Asserts that Mary Ann is the Progressive Champion You Want in the State House
Democratic State Representative candidate in the 15th Middlesex district, Mary Ann Stewart, receives the endorsement of Progressive Massachusetts. Progressive Massachusetts joins local progressive group, Woburn Welcomes, and statewide organizations Progressive Democrats of Massachusetts and Mass Alliance, a coalition of over twenty unions, LGBTQ rights, pro-choice, health care, and environmental organizations.
“I am grateful for the endorsement of Progressive Mass,” said Stewart. “Their members understand that this race is about representing shared values of fairness, opportunity, protection for the environment, strengthening our public structures, and equality for all. Massachusetts has been a proving ground for progressive policies before and we must push onward.”
Of Mary Ann, Co-Chair of PM Elections & Endorsements Committee Jonathan Cohn said:
“Mary Ann Stewart has been a tireless advocate for quality public education for the students of Lexington and across the Commonwealth. As a former member of the Lexington School Committee and a current member of the Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, she understands the ins and outs of crafting policy and the importance of investing in the future of the Commonwealth. But Mary Ann isn’t just an expert — she’s also an activist, and she would bring the energy and passion needed to fight to make Massachusetts a leader in progressive policy, from health care to housing, from climate change to civil rights.”
Progressive Massachusetts is a statewide, grassroots organization built from the ground up by organizers and activists from across Massachusetts. Their goal is to advance equal opportunity, social and economic justice, consumer and environmental protection, health care as a right, equal access to quality public services, respect for all residents and accountable and transparent government.
Amidst a chorus of candidates claiming they are the progressive candidate, the Progressive Massachusetts endorsement further proves that Mary Ann is the most progressive candidate with the values and credentials to enact and advocate for positive change, in the 15th Middlesex District race.
The Democratic Primary election will be held on Tuesday, September 4th, 2018. The 15th Middlesex district consists of all of Lexington and Woburn wards one and seven.
