Walk

Describe one simple thing you do that brings joy to your life.

I take a daily walk, first thing in the morning.

I’ve always been a morning person.

Even from the very beginning.

I was born at 5 AM.

These days I rise at Dawn, give gratitude, and head out for a 3-5 mile walk, wherever I happen to be, meaning that I don’t drive to some location to walk. I step out my front door and go.

Afterward, I briefly journal and meditate.

These actions, getting those miles in first thing, are my moving meditation.

I love the steady rhythm of breath, of quiet, of early morning. It all sets a powerful intention for the day ahead and reminds me what I’m capable of, even on busiest days.

It’s more than a habit.

It’s the foundation for everything that follows.

I understand joy to be something internal, not a feeling, exactly, but a state of being, something cultivated? and maintained over time. Joy endures the ups and downs of everyday life. It’s a steady flame as opposed to a bright spark. Do you agree?
