My son suggested that we meet in Colorado Springs and walk among dramatic spires and rock formations of the Garden of the Gods. I agreed, also thinking it a good idea to test my legs in the higher elevation before heading all the way into the Mile High City, where he lives.

Both proved to be excellent ideas!

Deer roam freely in the protected park, in this case, near the parking lot

Wide, wending pathways throughout the park

Established as a National Park in 1971

We met at about 11:00 AM and spent the next couple of hours walking through the park. Afterward, we enjoyed lunch on site before heading to nearby Manitou Springs. More photos of Garden of the Gods, here.
